Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need a partner to start dancing?
No. In group classes, students rotate partners regularly. Rotation serves as a good practice to learn and improve partnering skills. In private lessons, it is not necessary to have a partner either.
I don't have a partner, and I feel awkward coming to parties by myself. Won't I stand out among the crowd?
Not at all. Many dancers arrive at parties by themselves. This is how you get to meet other people who like to dance.
What is the average age of your students?
Dancers at Studio 665 come in all ages, abilities, sizes, and backgrounds. What they have in common is a love for dancing.
I don't know how to dance. Won't I look awkward?
Everyone was a beginner at one time. You can expect nothing less than strong encouragement and support from fellow dancers and students. And no one gets to be a good dancer without lots of practice and lessons. Let's get you started!
How much does it cost to take lessons at Studio 665?
We have packages that combine group and private lessons, as well as the ability to purchase group lessons on a pay-as-you-go basis (individual lessons) or dance cards (multiple lessons). Contact the Studio for more details. And remember, packages are a way for students to save money on lessons they want to take.
How long will it take me to learn how to dance?
It depends on your abilities, your expectations, and how much time you put into practice. We offer month-long series of lessons dedicated to a different social dance each month (e.g. swing, salsa, hustle), which should teach you enough to get you on the dance floor with confidence. Dance enthusiasts continue to take dance lessons for months and years. It is a life-long hobby.
